Please be advised that key origin ports in China are currently experiencing significant congestion. This situational update is intended to keep you informed of the current conditions impacting planned ETD/ETA windows.
Current Port Status (as of today):
- Shanghai:
150+ vessels at anchor
Berthing delays of up to 2 days
Average vessel waiting time: 2.5 days - Qingdao:
Facing additional delays due to regional congestion
Average vessel waiting time: 1.5 days - Yantian:
Average vessel waiting time: 1.5 days
What’s Causing the Delays?
- Golden Week Timing:
Pre- and post-holiday slowdowns, along with reduced port and carrier capacity, have created bottlenecks. - Increased Cargo Volume:
Seasonal peak demand is pushing more cargo into limited port infrastructure. - Blank Sailings:
Carriers have implemented blank sailings during Golden Week, compressing cargo onto fewer sailings and causing vessel bunching at berths. - Weather-Related Disruptions:
While no major current weather events are reported, residual impacts from previous disruptions, such as Typhoon Tapah continue to affect port operations.
